We don't have word yet on whether or not Sony plans on turning those books into movie sequels, but we'll surely find out after The 5th Wave hits theaters. Rick Yancey is also publishing another book sequel, The Last Star, set to be released sometime in 2016. The 5th Wave novel was first published in 2013, followed by last year's The Infinite Sea. The adaptation will debut against 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Ride Along 2 and The Nut Job 2. J Blakeson ( The Disappearance of Alice Creed) directs from an adapted script by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich), based on the young adult book by Rick Yancey. The supporting cast includes Nick Robinson, Alex Roe, Ron Livingston, Maggie Siff, Maika Monroe and Liev Schreiber. But the closer she gets with Evan the closer she gets to getting her brother and unraveling the secrets of The 5th Wave. As she goes to fulfill a promise she'd made, to return to her brother, she meets Evan Walker, a strange but beautiful boy with a secret he won't tell her. And what's The 5th Wave? Well that's what Cassie Sullivan wants to know. The 4th wave being humans with activated alien brains.
The 3rd wave being a plague caused by birds, leaving only the unlucky alive. The 2nd wave being a massive tsunami, killing off all coastal cities. The 5th Wave is a 2016 American science fiction action film directed by J Blakeson, with a screenplay by Susannah Grant, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th Wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope - if she can only trust him.Īliens attack Earth in 5 waves, the 1st wave being a permanent blackout of power, setting earth back into the Stone Age. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie ( Chloë Moretz) is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. In the new film The 5th Wave, four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated.
#THE 5TH WAVE 2 FULL MOVIE SERIES#
This highly-anticipated project is based on the beloved book series by Rick Yancey.
Following an international trailer that arrived last week, the studio has finally released a domestic trailer for The 5th Wave with brand new footage, featuring Chloe Moretz as Cassie Sullivan. It alienates everyone over the age of 12 by making it way too much like the novel and not trying to change up some of the things it needed to.Back in January, Sony Pictures released a brief trailer for their sci-fi adaptation The 5th Wave, exactly one year before the film hits theaters on January 29, 2016. Overall it is a bad adaption of an average book. The books suffered from this too and I feel it could have been made to be a bit more serious to kind of adult up the series and make it fit with a wider audience. What is does so wrong is the absolute straight 'teen angst novel' scenes and relationships. Lots of scenes and explanations were left out resulting in the movie not being very satisfying. If you've read the novel, you'll be glad that the movie mostly followed the plot of the novel. The bulk of the movie is about the fifth and final wave. The choreography in the fight scenes is a bit exaggerated but I enjoyed that. The movie mentions the four waves briefly in the beginning. Must have been a way to keep people from calling him "The annoying kid." The film looks good in it's presentation. He just stares all the time, looking dumbfounded. There's no Oscar winning performances but everybody does a decent job with the crap dialogue they are given. The title of the film plays into the "twist" in the film, if you can even call it that and it's about the only thing that it does a little differently. It's a tried and true story for the post-apocalyptic genre and doesn't do anything really cool with it except for the title. The 5th Wave is based on the book of the same name and it's main focus is on a girl reconnecting with her brother.
